Everything You Wanted To Know About Wikipedia Stuff You Never Thought To Ask - The Writers For Hire

All that YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT WIKIPEDIA, PART 1 All that You Always Wanted To Know About Wikipedia (and most likely some stuff you never thought to ask), Part 1 Wikipedia has gotten a norm, go-to asset for a wide range of realities: Want to have a universal knowledge of the goliath squid? Need a rundown of each Nobel Prize champ, sorted out by nation? Keen on the historical backdrop of Microsoft? Ever pondered about the contrast between East Coast and West Coast hip-bounce? Wikipedia is an extraordinary case of the amazing things that can happen when individuals get together and pool their insight and aptitude. Anybody with a PC and an Internet association can add to Wikipedia. In any case, this doesn’t mean Wikipedia is an out of control situation. Truly, anybody can contribute another article or alter a current one however on the off chance that you need your commitment to â€Å"stick,† you’ve got the opportunity to keep a huge amount of rules with respect to content, sources, lack of bias, and striking quality. Things being what they are, what makes a â€Å"good† Wikipedia article? Does your item, administration, or organization have a place on Wikipedia? What occurs if your article gets hailed? Furthermore, what does â€Å"flagged† mean, in any case? Wiki can be convoluted (and even a touch of scaring) to the unenlightened. That’s why we’ve chose to do a progression of blog entries investigating the intricate details and rules of Wikipedia. This week, we’re commencing the arrangement with a couple of the essentials. First of all: What is Wikipedia? Wikipedia is an online reference book †however I'm not catching that's meaning? Here’s a decent definition, from Wikipedia itself: Fundamentally, all that you have to think about Wikipedia is in the above sentence: Wikipedia is â€Å"neutral.† at the end of the day, it doesn’t speak to one single perspective regarding any matter. Wikipedia contains â€Å"verifiable, set up facts.† As in, realities that have been distributed by a uninterested and dependable outsider. Realities that you can confirm by checking two or three sources, for example, (legitimate) paper or magazine articles. We’ll take a more top to bottom gander at both impartiality and sources in future posts. Be that as it may, at this moment, let’s simply center around the master plan. Along these lines, since we realize what Wikipedia is, let’s take one moment to talk about what Wikipedia isn’t. Also, there are a mess of things that Wikipedia isn’t. Truth be told there’s an entire page on Wikipedia devoted to this point, and it’s truly long. Basically, however, it comes down to this: Wikipedia isn't a blog/fansite/individual site. So you can’t write in first-individual, and you can’t compose anything you desire. It’s not a spot for yelling about legislative issues or enthusing about your preferred film or TV appear. That’s not to state that your preferred TV show doesn’t merit a Wikipedia page. It most likely does. Be that as it may, it despite everything needs to fit in with Wikipedia’s measures. As such, similar to this: Not this: Wikipedia isn't a spot to distribute your unique research/creations/revelations. Let’s state you simply found another planet or designed a super-cool new iPhone application. This is incredible †however it’s not Wiki-proper. Since Wikipedia is a spot for â€Å"established† realities, it’s not a spot for your unique work or research . . . however. (We state â€Å"yet† in such a case that a built up, outsider distribution like Newsweek or the Wall Street Journal composes an article about you and your new planet/iPhone application, you may really be Wiki-qualified. In any case, more on that later.) Wikipedia isn't a spot for ads/self-advancement. Once more, we’ll get substantially more top to bottom with this later, yet when expounding on an organization, item, or administration you must be extra-mindful so as not to sound one-sided. Wiki pages that sound like they were composed by a company’s PR division rapidly get hailed for lack of bias/irreconcilable situation issues, which resembles this: That doesn’t imply that your item, administration, or organization doesn’t have a place on Wikipedia. It just implies that, in the event that you need your Wiki page to â€Å"stick,† you need to adhere to the principles. Wikipedia, The Writers For Hire, and You (or Your Company/Product/Service) We’ve made many Wikipedia articles for customers on a wide scope of subjects. What's more, we’ve got a phenomenal reputation. Also, that’s in light of the fact that we turn down more Wiki ventures than we acknowledge. It’s not that we don’t need your business. We do. However, we don’t need to take your cash in the event that we realize that your page won’t stick. Before we acknowledge any Wikipedia venture, we ensure your subject is qualified for a Wiki page. To be qualified, a point must meet two significant standards: It should be remarkable, and it needs to have gotten huge inclusion by unbiased, legitimate outsider sources. We’ll get more into both of these as we proceed with our Wikipedia arrangement. Stay tuned! Coming up straightaway: Notability.

Understanding the Trait Theory of Leadership

Understanding the Trait Theory of Leadership Theories Print Understanding the Trait Theory of Leadership Can certain traits predict your leadership success? By Kendra Cherry facebook twitter Kendra Cherry, MS, is an author, educational consultant, and speaker focused on helping students learn about psychology. This line of research emerged as one of the earliest types of investigations into the nature of effective leadership and is tied to the great man theory of leadership first proposed by Thomas Carlyle in the mid-1800s.?? Rationale According to Carlyle, history is shaped by extraordinary leaders. This ability to lead is something that people are simply born with, Carlyle believed, and not something that could be developed. Carlyles ideas inspired early research on leadership, which almost entirely focused on inheritable traits. Carlyles theory of leadership was based on the rationale that:Certain traits produce certain patterns of behavior.Patterns are consistent across different situations.People are born with leadership traits. Even today, books, and articles tout the various characteristics necessary to become a great leader, suggesting that leadership is somehow predestined in some (or is at least more likely) while unlikely, if not impossible, in others.?? Since the publication of Carlyles thesis, other psychologists have examined argued the trait-based theory of leadership. From the 1940s to the 1970s, psychologist Ralph Melvin Stogdill suggested that leadership is the result of the interaction between the individual and the social situation and not merely the result of a predefined set of traits.?? Soon after in the 1980s, James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner posited that credibility was a key indicator of leadership skills, characterized by  such traits as being honest, forward-looking, inspiring, and competent.?? The 8 Major Theories of Leadership Leadership Traits While the list of leadership traits can vary by whoever is drawing up the list, a recent study from Spain outlined behavioral traits that separated lower-level supervisors from higher-level supervisors.?? According to the researchers, the traits most commonly associated with great leadership include: Intelligence and action-oriented judgment:  Great leaders and smart and make choices that move the group forward.Eagerness to accept responsibility:  Strong leaders take on responsibility and dont pass the blame on to others. They stand by their success and take ownership of their mistakes.Task competence:  A great leader is skilled and capable. Members of the group are able to look to the leader for an example of how things should be done.Understanding their followers and their needs:  Effective leaders pay attention to group members and genuinely care about helping them succeed. They want each person in the group to succeed and play a role in moving the entire group forward.People skills:  Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for leading effectively. Great leaders know how to interact well with other leaders as well as with team members.A need for achievement:  Strong leaders have a need to succeed and help the group achieve their goals. They genuinely care about the succes s of the group and are committed to helping the group reach these milestones.Capacity to motivate people:  A great leader knows how to inspire others and motivate them to do their best.Courage and resolution:  The best leaders are brave and committed to the goals of the group. They do not hide from challenges.Perseverance:  Strong leaders stick with it, even when things get difficult or the group faces significant obstacles.Trustworthiness:  Group members need to be able to depend upon and trust the person leading them.Decisiveness:  A great leader is capable of making a decision and is confident in his or her choices.Self-confidence:  Many of the best leaders are extremely self-assured. Because they are confident in themselves, followers often begin to share this self-belief.Assertiveness:  A great leader is able to be direct and assertive without coming off as overly pushy or aggressive.Adaptability and flexibility:  Effective leaders dont get stuck in a rut. They are able to thin k outside of the box and adapt quickly to changing situations.Emotional stability:  In addition to being dependable overall, strong leaders are able to control their emotions and avoid overreactions.Creativity:  Perhaps most importantly, great leaders not only possess their own creativity, but they are also able to foster creativity among members of the group.?? Controversy Early studies on leadership focused on the differences between leaders and followers with the assumption that people in leadership positions would display more leadership traits  than those in subordinate positions. What researchers found, however, was that there were relatively few traits that could be used to distinguish between leaders and followers. For example, leaders tend to be great communicators??. Leaders also tend to be higher in traits such as extroversion, self-confidence, and height, but these differences tended to be small. There are obvious flaws in the trait-based theory. While proponents suggest that certain traits are characteristic of strong leaders, those who possess the traits dont always become leaders. Some have suggested that this may due to situational variables in which leadership skills only emerge when an opportunity for leadership arises (such as in war, during a political crisis, or in the absence of leadership).?? Meanwhile, others have taken a contingency approach to leadership in which certain traits can be more effective in some situations and less so in others. Opinions vary on what those traits are and to what degree they can predict success, if at all. Leadership in the Internet Age More controversial yet is the contention that some people dont have the traits to become leaders.?? Such a belief inherently overlooks social and economic inequities that limit, if not entirely erase, a persons potential to lead. It also overlooks the changing economy and how leadership is defined when connections are today made both online and offline. As outlets for leadership continue to change (such as with social media and e-commerce), the traits needed to succeed are different simply because there are fewer intermediaries. Within this realm, the ability to influence is arguably more important than the ability to lead. A Word From Verywell While these traits are often linked to effective leadership, it is important to note that few leaders possess all of these traits. Generally, a strong leader will have many of these qualities. But aspects of the situation also play an important role in determining if people are able to lead well. In many cases, it is the interaction between these traits and the  situation that determines leadership quality. How Effective Is Democratic Leadership?

Protagonist Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye - Free Essay Example

An immature childs experiences allow his transformation into a responsible man. In J. D. Salingers The Catcher in the Rye, the protagonist, Holden Caulfield, revisits his transition from his young self. Holden, a junior at Pencey Prep, has just been expelled for failing four courses. Holdens inability to deal with the chasm between childhood and adulthood leaves him close to an emotional collapse. Although intelligent, Holdens cynical nature compels him to shield himself from the realities of adulthood. In a conversation with Phoebe, he reveals that he would like to be a catcher in the rye keeping children innocent hence the title of the novel. Salingers use of catcher in the rye serves as a metaphor to Holdens hopes of saving children from the inevitable tough phase from childhood to adulthood. Contradictory to Holdens intentions, he comes to terms with himself when Phoebe rides the carousel. When she reaches for the gold ring, Holden worries that she will lose her innocence. However, Holden finally reveals that the thing with kids is, if they want to grab the gold ring, you j ust have to let them do it, and not say anything. If they fall off, they fall off, but its bad if you say anything to them (211). The gold ring symbolizes Phoebes attempt to attain maturity, and Holden realizes that the impossibility of stopping that from happening. The vital setting of the carousel represents Holdens desire for things to stay stagnant. While Holden may seem rude and act only in his self-interest, he shows his sensitivity. Holden, now a grown man, wanted purity with the astonishment capacity of his youth. Now at the end of the novel, Holden exhibits his coming-of-age, as he accepts that he can no longer be a catcher in the rye. Holdens problems also arise when he calls everyone phonies. Holden explains that all adults are phonies in order to provide an excuse for him to withdraw into his cynical isolation. By the end of the novel, Holden realizes his need for human relationships. However, he still fears interactions, reminding himself, Dont ever tell anybody anythin g. If you do, you start missing everybody (214). Holdens obsessiveness with himself conflicts with his reclusiveness, but he learns to accept both. Holden represents the coming of age prototype, as he develops from a naive boy, unsure of how to deal with his emotions, into a mature adult. Holdens coming of age fosters a deviation from quick judgments allowing his character development growth. Over the course of the novel, Holden changes his attitude towards his former teacher, Mr. Antolini. Holden identifies with Mr. Antolini, and Mr. Antolini in return validates Holdens suffering. Mr. Antolini deepens his relationship with Holden by revealing his private life; his drinking addiction and his messy home. However, Holdens perspective of Mr. Antolini dilutes after Holden wakes up revealing Mr. Antolini stroking his forehead. Holden immediately jumps to the conclusion of Mr. Antolinis sexuality and worries he may become one. Later on, Holden reflects on his encounter with Mr. Antolini: I wondered if just maybe I was wrong about thinking he was making a flirty pass with me. I mean I started thinking that even if he was a flit, he certainlyd been nice to me (186). Holden regrets his quick judgment of Mr. Antolini, knowing that he ruined his friendship as a result. He begins to question his swift perception of people, and this allows Holden to develop in his change to adulthood. Salingers employs a first person omniscient perspective, creating sympathy in the reader for Holden. Unlike Holdens late encounter with Mr. Antolini, the book starts off with Holden meeting with Mr. Spencer. Holden visits Mr. Spencer, a former teacher, when he falls ill. Mr. Spencer initiates a pattern of unproductive adult interactions that define Holdens experience throughout the book. Mr. Spencer introduces the idea that life is a game, boy. Life is a game that one plays according to the rules (8). Taking into account of Mr. Spencers remarks, Holden applies himself into current time and seeks assistance from adults, signifying Holdens change for the better and the hope he resembles. At first, Holden takes Mr. Spencers suggestions as a form of punishment, but later on decides it is for the better. Over the course of The Catcher in the Rye, Holden learns to be less judgmental and condescending. In the past, Holden quickly rationalized other peoples actions, but later comes to age by acknowledging his own mistakes. Holden changes from a recluse into a more sociable person, characterizing his coming of age. At first, Holden possesses a lack of individuality, while feeling excluded from and victimized by the world around him. Later on, Holden divulges from his alienation from others as a form of self-protection. Holden purchases a new hat remarking, the way I wore it, I swung the old peak way around to the backvery corny, Ill admit, but I liked it that way. I looked good in it that way (34). The unique hat symbolizes Holdens desire to isolate himself from others. Holdens loneliness always causes him to seek relationships, but his need for isolation leads to him to ruin those relationships, evident in his date with Sally Hayes. Contrary from his prior self, Holden uncovers his warmer feelings for people saying, I sort of miss everybody I told about (230). Holden also unveils his decision to return to school the next semester. These sequence of events represent Holdens coming of age to becoming mo re social. Holden leaves the story with a sense of optimism and a renewed hope. Holden deduces that his emotions are extremely complex, but he believes he can finally attain happiness. The tone remains cynical across the book and Holden maintains his negative view of mankind up until the end. Throughout the novel, Holden struggles to find his passion. However, he grows and discovers that change must begin within himself. Salinger imbues many factors to depict how Caulfield matured from a scared, dependent boy into a self-reliant man. Holdens coming of age is represented by his acceptance towards his inability of solving every problem. By the end, Holden also deviates from his quick judgments and becomes a more sociable person. Holdens coming of age exhibits how a characters change propels growth and allows a deeper understanding of ones self.

Essay On Physics Of Complex Systems - 722 Words

One of the flourishing and fascinating research areas in physics nowadays is the physics of complex systems, or the theory of complexity. There is not a single and straightforward meaning associated with this buzzword due to its vagueness and polysemy, and very often it depends on the context and the authors. Nevertheless, one of the interesting points are the tools and methods that the theory provides that can be eventually applied to many different disciplines, ranging from physics, chemistry, biology, applied sciences and even social sciences. The main idea of complexity that the author uses in the present monograph stems from the nonlinear interaction of the individual parts of a dynamical system and the different sizes of large†¦show more content†¦Most of the problems to which the author refers to constitute very recent research problems in the field of space plasma, and the book contains at the end a very rich list of important references on the field, that the author uses along the whole book. The book is very well edited and it contains seven chapters, where key aspects of complexity theory applied to space plasmas are discussed. It starts with an excellent introduction where the objectives of the book are clearly outlined, and basically the rest of the chapters are devoted to either give the terminology that it will be used in the next chapters, or to describe methods and different applications. A second chapter deals extensively with the idea of dynamical criticality far from equilibrium. The theory of self-organized criticality is introduced and applied to different examples. Interestingly, this theory helped to recognize the power-law behaviour of the solar flares. Next, under the title of physics of complexity, the author describes coherent structures and explores the physical reasons of the origin of complexity in space plasmas. The next chapters deal with other techniques such as probability distributions, wavelets, fractals, multifractal analysis, ending with a fi nal chapter on the dynamical renormalization group and its connection with criticality and multifractals. The phenomenon of intermittency and fluid turbulence using these techniques are also discussed. Sample details Pages: 3 Words: 1031 Downloads: 1 Date added: 2019/04/12 Category Literature Essay Level High school Topics: Lord of The Flies Essay Did you like this example? Lord of the Flies Essay Symbolism is a very powerful literary device that helps the reader better understand a novel. Certain colors can hold meaning, and this meaning can change throughout the novel. Lord of the Flies by William Golding tells the story of a group of boys from London who are stranded on a deserted island during WWII. The book displays Golding’s thoughts on how humans act when there are no societal rules. The novel uses symbols to show how quickly the boys on the island descend into violence, and how extreme that violence really is. This symbol leads to a deeper understanding of how when society is not watching, things can become horrific. Over the course of the novel, the color pink progresses from a symbol of innocence and order to representing death and disappointment, demonstrating that without rules, man loses structure and devolves into chaos. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Symbolism in Lord of the Flies" essay for you Create order At the beginning of the novel, the color pink represents peace and calm. At this time, the island is unscathed. When the boys first land, they explore the land to determine if it is an island or not. In their journey, they mention multiple times a serene pink cliff: â€Å"The most usual feature of the rock was a pink cliff surmounted by a skewed block; and that again surmounted, and that again, till the pinkness became a stack of balanced rock projecting through the looped fantasy of the forest creepers. Where the pink cliffs rose out of the ground there were often narrow tracks winding upwards† (Golding 26). Since everything is fine so far, the island being described as pink in the very beginning shows that pink is tied to innocence. The â€Å"pink cliff† (Golding 26). is mentioned many times throughout the beginning of the boys’ stay on the island. The color is also something calming. After a job is completed, in this case laboriously gathering wood to make a fire, the color is mentioned to describe the island once more accompanied by a mood of accomplishment: â€Å"One by one, as they sensed that the pile was complete, the boys stopped going back for more and stood, with the pink, shattered top of the mountain around them. Breath came evenly by now, and sweat dried† (Golding 39). After doing a difficult job, the boys stop for a minute and appreciate it, surrounded by the beautiful pink mountain. This image of the beautiful pink mountain along with the satisfaction of a job well done demonstrates that pink symbolizes peace and calm in the beginning of the novel. As the story of the boys progresses, the color pink begins to symbolize death and disappointment. Tension forms between the boys because one of them, Jack Merridew, believes he can be a better leader for the group than their current leader, Ralph. This causes a lot of hate and the color pink starts to reflect it. The color of the conch shell which represents leadership, but it begins to fade: â€Å"Exposure to the air had bleached the yellow and pink to near-white, and transparency† (Golding 72). The conch shell’s color is becoming bleached, signaling that leadership and civilization is starting to die. And, without leadership, the boys have no support system and things can easily fall through the cracks. The color pink is used again to describe a peaceful scene when Jack’s group of hunters finds another pig to kill: â€Å"A little apart from the rest, sunk in deep maternal bliss, lay the largest sow of the lot. She was black and pink; and the great bladder of her belly was fringed with a row of piglets that slept or burrowed and squeaked. [] One piglet, with a demented shriek, rushed into the sea trailing Rogers spear behind it. The sow gave a gasping squeal and staggered up, with two spears sticking in her fat flank† (Golding 134). The matronly nature of the sow and how brutally they killed its pink body shows that even though pink is still being used to describe a peaceful scene, the serene situation is destroyed in the end. The color pink also symbolizes disappointment and death later in the novel. When Piggy dies, he falls off the pink cliff and into the sea: â€Å"Then the sea breathed again in a long, slow sigh, the water boiled white and pink over the rock; and when it went, sucking back again, the body of Piggy was gone† (Golding 181). The sea sighs before turning pink with Piggy’s blood, showing a disappointment in the fact that three people have died on the island. The color pink has changes from a symbol of peace to one of death. The theme of Lord of the Flies By William Golding is that without rules, man loses structure and devolves into chaos. This is very evident through the change in meaning of the color pink. Pink represents a peaceful color in the beginning. This highlights how fresh and new the island is. But, as the boys begin to make the island their own, the meaning of the color changes. First, the unscathed island is described as pink multiple times, showing how peaceful their original situation is. But, by the end, pink had been used to describe blood in the ocean surrounding the island. The color pink amplifies the fact that these seemingly innocent children have the power to do some serious damage if left without a stable civilization. The theme of the book is shone through this symbol to better intensify its message. In Lord of the Flies, the color pink changes throughout the course of the novel, thus highlighting that without rules for the boys to live by, the situation can turn disastrous very quickly. The boys realize that the seemingly annoying rules that their parents set for them are no longer in place, so they are free to do whatever they please. Things quickly go south. Through the description of the island at the beginning and the description of the surrounding ocean at the end, the color pink begins by representing peace and ends by representing death. The development of the symbol shows that people can easily turn to violence if there are no rules to regulate their actions.

Beloved Essay Prompts Example For Students

Beloved Essay Prompts BELOVEDToni Morrison depicts the physical and psychological effects slavery has on an African American woman and her family following the civil war in her famous book, Beloved. Throughout the novel, Morrison uses various themes to capture the impact of slavery had on the various characters portrayed in Beloved. The effects on these characters were not just physical but psychological as well. The impact of slavery has left a great impression on this family even long after the civil war. Slavery has led to physical damage, the killing of ones child, families being broken up, characters going crazy, and not being able to move on from the past that haunts them. Slavery has had a physical affect on many characters. School teacher made one open on my back, and when it closed it made a tree. It grows there still, (17) states Sethe describing the scar of a tree on her back. Sethe was whipped with cowhide for telling Mrs. Garner that the boys of the schoolteacher had taken milk from her that was for her baby. Sethe was whipped so hard that he had touched every ridge and leaf of it with his mouth, none of which Sethe could feel because her back skin had been dead for years (18). Even though years had passed Sethe is still effected by the punishment that was dealt to her during her time as a slave. Below her bloody knees, there was no feeling at all; her chest was two cushions of pain, (34) describes Sethe of her body as she lied in the woods pregnant and in severe pain. The fear of slavery and hope of freedom had led her to run away pregnant into the woods to try to save herself and her unborn daughter from the chains of slavery. Slavery also affected Sethe psychologically because the threat of slavery onto her children lead to the killing of one of her own children. Sethe did not want one of her children, Beloved, to live like how she had and to suffer like how she had suffered. Sethe believed that Beloved would be better off dead then to have been a slave to someone. Sethe believed that .what she had done was right because it came from true love (251). Slavery had to have affected Sethe psychologically because no mother in their right mind would kill their own children, but the negative affects of slavery and having been through the life of a slave, Sethe strongly believed that Beloved should not have to live the life of a slave. Sethe felt rather than having to suffer, Beloved would be better of dead. In Beloved, we see evidence of the affects of slavery on families during that time. Slavery has lead to the break up of many families. Going back to when Sethe was a slave, she did not have any parents herself, and lost her husband when she ran away to Ohio trying to free herself. Slavery also led her to kill one of her children, and the ghost of that dead child, Beloved, led to both of her sons running away. In attempts to break free from the chain of slavery, Sethe had to put her family aside to gain freedom for herself and her one daughter Denver. Baby Suggs lost all of her eight children due to slavery, four children were taken from her and four were chased away. She tells Sethe that she should be thankful that she had three children left but it was because of these conditions that many former slaves were able to grow into a closer bond with each other.Being a slave has not put Sethe in the right state of mind. .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df , .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .postImageUrl , .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df , .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:hover , .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:visited , .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:active { border:0!important; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:active , .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u9076201e85bf9633fef8d2b3f5dcb1df:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Major developmental themes in child development Essay The act of slavery stills lingers in her mind, as she cannot get over the years of her living as a slave. Like a soldier who fought in war would have flashbacks, Sethe often experiences a flashback of her own kind trying to forget all of the horrible memories. Sethe charges Edward Bodwin with an ice pick in the deranged belief that he is schoolteacher come for her babies (Furman 269). Being a slave and remembering her horrible past has led Sethe to believe that a white man who was there to give her daughter Denver a job was the schoolteacher that had mistreated her when she was a slave. Seeing Edward Bodwin standing in front of her house she flashed back to how the schoolteacher forced her to kill her own child and just went after Edward Bowin to kill him. Some characters like Ella has tried to completely forget the past. The past was something to leave behind. And if it didnt stay behind, well, you might have to stomp it out (256). Ella feels that the past being so terrible its not even worth remembering and is best to just forget about everything that had happened. The affects of slavery is so great that the characters in this story have a hard time moving on with their lives even after the end of slavery. Even though Denver did not live as a slave, the fact that Sethe her mom was slave, affected Denvers life greatly. The ghost of Beloved living in the house leads Denver to say, I cant live here. I dont know where to go or what to do, but I cant live here. Nobody speaks to us. Nobody comes by. Boys dont like me. Girls dont either (14). The events that occurred years ago during slavery still affects Denver who was not even born when her sister was killed. Furman Says But without friends, neighbors, a church, without involvement in the community, she has little potential of rehabilitating her life beyond a woodshed (Furman 266). Slavery has led Sethe and Denver to live a secluded life in which they do not associate with other people. The lingering effects of slavery have slowed down the growth of Denver as a strong black woman and have prevented Sethe from moving on from the past that haunts her.Through the novel Beloved, we can understand the physical and psychological effects that slavery had on people during that time. The harshness of slavery made people do things that they normally would not do and kept many from living the life that they would have wanted to live. We can also see that slavery not only affect those who were slaves but their children as well, as many had to grow up without parents, children, siblings, or spouses. Like the imagery of birds flying together in the story, what the African Americans wanted was just their freedom, to fly away from all the racial injustice.

Model Persuasive Essay - A Great Essay Idea

Model Persuasive Essay - A Great Essay IdeaNow that you have finished the first year of the fourth grade, you are excited to get started writing your Model Persuasive Essay. The last year of fifth grade is not the time to panic. In fact, it is important that you do not attempt to rewrite your essay on the first day of fourth grade because this is the time to get organized and to build on what you have learned from your year in middle school. While learning to write essays at this stage of your education can be a very important role, your ability to stand out from the crowd is also important. No one likes to read a writer that has an average essay. Rather, they would rather read a writer that stands out from the rest. So, as you look through the yearbook for fourth grade and see how many other writers have read, you will want to make a point to read the essays you enjoy the most. You may even want to seek out some essays from your peers and check them out as well. If you find one of the m that you like, you can use the Model Persuasive Essay, like I did, to revise it for your own use.It may be helpful to realize that most third graders only read about two pages per page. If you read three pages in an average essay, you should plan to write five or six pages in a Model Persuasive Essay. This is a substantial amount of reading, which is why you want to make a point to take on board all of the information your four-year-old mind is drawing from.Once you have finished doing this, it is time to take the model persuasive essay and rewrite it in a way that will help you improve your essay. To start with, you can repeat the questions that you found in the fourth grade yearbook and that you identified when you were doing the essay at middle school. Try to rearrange the sentences in order to make them more organized and to make them flow more naturally. For example, instead of saying 'My boyfriend's best friend was a bully,' you can say 'We were best friends all throughout el ementary school. One afternoon, he picked on me. This time, I decided I was not going to let him get away with it.'Or, instead of 'I wanted to stay at home all week because my parents' house was too cold,' you can say 'My parents were worried about me because my bedroom windows were closed all day.' Once you have repeated and revised your essay to this level, try it again in fourth grade. You may have to do it once more if you fail to improve, but eventually, you will do a better job.

Therefore, in order to live a meaningful life, one must make the best use of time; and the only way to make the best use of it is to be punctual. The habit of punctuality should be acquired step by step. Youth is the time of ones life to acquire this valuable habit. Once this good habit is acquired, it hardly goes away. It becomes a part and parcel of ones nature. A punctual person is cared and respected by all. The habit of punctuality adds much importance to ones personality.By using properly the tame in hand for the days work, one is able to achieve his goal in life. If a student is con scious about the value of punctuality, he should complete his home work, and prepare his lessons in due time, and then only it will be easy for him to cope with the progress of his class lessons in the school. He must get up early in the morning, take his meals in due time, and attend school punctually. For a businessman, punctuality is the soul of his business. Like a student, he is also required to move and act with the tide of time, by adjusting his programme of work with his lime in hand.He must keep his words, if he promises anything to anyone, quoting some particular time. Otherwise, he loses the faith of his customers; and that discredit amounts to loss of his goodwill in the market. By not being punctual, he loses business. When health is lost, something is lost. But when character is lost, everything is lost. † Character is everything in a man’s life. It is the total personality of man. A man without character is just a dead body that is hated by everybody. The importance of character can be realized from the fact that a student seeking admission from one school or college to another has to produce a character certificate from the former institution. A person applying for some post ust produce a character certificate from the head of the institution he last attended. Character is the sum total of all the good qualities in a man. It consists in honesty, truthful speech and dealings, dutiful- nests, diligence, and obedience to parents, teachers and elders. Sincerity, love of mankind, inner goodness and desire to do w ell to others and to be free from hatred, jealousy and malice are also part of character. To live in harmony with the people of all religions, races, castes and nations may be added to the characteristics of high character. Not to cast an evil eye on a member of the opposite sex is the essence of high moral character. Sometimes, there may be instances of loose moral character. But most often there are just rumors and guess-works which are deliberately engineered to malign a person out of jealousy or animosity. One should think twice before casting aspersions on anybody. We must accept all such rumors with a grain of salt. In any case, a man of character is bound to come out of the dark clouds as the sun appears bright in the sky.

League Of Denial Movie Review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

League Of Denial - Movie Review Example For instance, the NFL changed the kickoff laws in which the team starting the drive moved to the 35-yard line (Fainaru-Wada and Fainaru 27). This was in an effort to reduce tackles at the end zones before conversion of scores. The NFL should have been proactive in offering monetary and medical assistance to prior NFL players by requiring all teams to insure their members. Similarly, the NFL should facilitate medical and financial assistance to players who get injured during matches. This can be achieved by having stand-by ambulances to offer first-aid services when concussions occur (Fainaru-Wada and Fainaru 25). I do not believe that the NFL has lost popularity due to the acknowledgement of the head traumas because all sports personalities experience injuries. It is also a good gesture to inform the public and would-be players of the head injuries and to warn them of the same. As a result, the NFL did not lose popularity since other sports do not acknowledge the occurrence of injuries. However, the NFL will lose revenue due to this type of publicity because the sponsoring companies would not like to associate with risky sports. Similarly, the fan attendance of the games might drop for fear of witnessing players being stretched off the pitches because of head injuries. This shows that publicity should always convey positive information to the public and manage the negative issues (Fainaru-Wada and Fainaru

The researcher would like to improve on this as it can cause many problems, which he would avoid if he could correct their statements. When his parents, do anything that is not normal, the author cannot correct or question them on the issue. This is because they are older that the author feels disrespectful when he correct or question them on their allegations. When friends or family members ask for assistance in the form of advice or money, he cannot deny the assistance. This is because the researcher has been staying with them as friends and family members and he has been assisting them in case of any problem. When the author tries to deny their assistance, he feels that they are traumatized and uncomfortable as family members and friends. When the a uthor is answering questions in public or meetings, he does not go direct to the point without explanation. This is because the researcher feels that the audiences are not satisfied without elaboration of the points. Through explanation, the audience will feel free and comfortable to ask any question in the course of the discussion. The researcher feels uncomfortable in the family or the field when some tasks are pending or incomplete. This makes the author not to concentrate on anything else as he feels that he has a weakness somewhere due to incomplete tasks or duties. The researcher won't deny any assistance requested by someone. This shows that he is in a position to deny the assistance, but due to his willingness to assist, the author cannot deny the assistance. As he is used to a life of assisting other people the author will be comfortable when others are suffering yet he is able and willing to assist them. This is the motive, which makes me not to deny any assistance request ed by different people even when the researcher is not able to help, he will try.
